Description

Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems
-
Install, maintain, and repair voice, data, and wireless communications systems.
-
Interprets service orders, circuit diagrams, electrical schematics, Outside Plant construction sheets, and Outside Plant diagrams.
-
Tests, locates, and repairs equipment problems associated with trouble calls, and performs routine maintenance at customer locations.
-
Be able to utilize fusion fiber splicing and Bidirectional troubleshooting to find faults.
-
Utilize fusion splicer, OTDR, Power Meter/Light Source, Light ID, scope

Emergency fiber restoration
-
Troubleshoot fiber
-
Be able to splice fiber optic cables.
-
Maintain and provision electronics equipment at the Central office.

Calix Access Equipment
-
-
Understand and connect fiber jumpers at a fiber frame to connect new customers
-
Verify work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information.
-
Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
-
Participate in special projects as required.
-
Familiarity with Aerial and Buried Plant.
-
Ability to give and receive clear direction from multiple sources.
-
Ability to effectively communicate, present information, and respond to managers, employees, customers, and vendors.
-
Ability to utilize Facility Management software to track and update Inside Plant and Outside Plant information
-
Ability to locate outside plant facilities to meet 811 state statute requirements.
Educational and Other Qualifications
-
Associates degree in a related technical discipline.
-
3-5 years of related telecommunications inside/outside cable plant work.
-
Installation of ducts and conduits, pulling cables, terminating, testing, splicing, and repairing interior and outside copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
-
Installation of fiber optic modems fiber multiplex equipment, fiber patch panels, analog and digital patch panels, and intermediate distribution frames.
-
Installation of lightning protection and supporting ground and power connections.
-
Installation of cabinets, cable ladder, and racking systems, and equipment components within the cabinets.
-

Ability to use specialized telecommunications tools and test equipment.
-
Knowledge of high-speed circuits, routers, switches, and modems.
-
Valid driver’s license and insurance.
-
Knowledge of IP subnetting
-
Computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Occasional callouts after hours via phone or physical site visits for emergency callouts.

Ability to be in an on-call rotation with a certain proximity to
New Hampton while on call may exist.

Extended conversations with customers providing customer service and interaction.
